You read that right...16 totally free patches for the Roland/Studio Electronics SE-02! The demonstrations are now complete! We hope you enjoy these patches and add them your SE-02 patch arsenal. You get the S.E. Editor Bank Files and the USB Drive Folders with quick "read me" files explaining how to load the bank. Instead of creating a separate patch list and descriptions file we decided to make an interactive patch list here on the page. Clicking the patch names will open a new YouTube window/tab with the sound in question cued up.
(The demos for the patch names in green below were taken from the mix of the SE-02 Demo Song and were exported with the full processing from the mix. So they aren't raw takes from the outputs of the SE-02 as usual. The demos for the patches in white are raw takes from the outputs of the SE-02. Nothing but a gentle limiter to boost the volume a little.)

01. Kickin - This is a nasty, massive, lo-fi kick drum centered around 50hz with lots of grit. (50hz is where all good kick drums live) High velocities produce an atrocious click in the attack on purpose. Softer velocities are more rounded. We suggest sampling this as a 1 shot into your favorite sampler.
~
02. Thee Snare - This is a pretty convincing acoustic snare drum in the low octaves. C1 - G2 are the best keys for a standard snare sound. We used Oscillator 3 with the keyboard control turned off and tuned it to 200hz for some extra body and oomph. The upper keys have more of a synth blip in the attack and work as synth percussion.
~
03. Crashin - Resonant noise hit that works great as a crash or ride cymbal with higher velocities. Random velocities produce some very dynamic filter mod.
~
04. Fine Hwixey - This is a fat, bright lead patch with a fast and subtle pitch ramp in the attack. The MW is opening the filter and aftertouch is adding some vibrato.
~
05. Some of Them - Velocity sensitive synth strings with an xmod twist. The MW is adding some filter xmod while aftertouch is opening the filter a little.
~
06. Da Oomph - This is a low kick drum that takes a pitch dive and settles into a soft sub bass. The MW is opening the filter quite a bit while aftertouch is adding some filter xmod.
~
07. Sharky's Overbite - Funky synth lead with mild detuning of oscillator 2 in the attack. Aftertouch is adding some vibrato.
~
08. Xmod Tin Man - This patch is a velocity sensitive, rusty wire percussion hit. Use the higher octaves, (C4-C6) for the best tones.
~
09. Dynamical Bass - Fat velocity sensitive synth bass here. The MW is opening the filter a bit while aftertouch is adding some vibrato.
~
10. Juicy as a... - This is a very funky velocity sensitive lead. The LFO is doing it's random thing on the filter but it takes a second for it to fade in. Almost like a delay on the LFO. The MW is opening the filter a little while aftertouch is adding filter xmod for some grit.
~
11. 7 Teaz Kiss - This is a darker velocity sensitive 70's lead with oscillator 2 tuned up 7 semitones. It's extremely fun to play with the MW opening the filter and aftertouch adding vibrato.
~
12. 7 Teaz Kiss 2 - This is a slightly different version of the patch above. Same basic tone except this time the LFO is doing a constant, smooth filter wahwah effect. The MW is opening the filter again but aftertouch is now adding some filter xmod.
~
13. Bongo e Mongo - Saturated, grimey synth bongos for all! Use C3 - C6 for the most "bongo like" tones. The lower octaves produce some fat hits as well. The MW is adding some PWM xmod which changes the pitch & tone like a finger on the skin. Velocity is modulating the filter heavily.
~
14. Entangled Ld - This is a polite, synth flute like patch. Velocity is modulating the filter for some great dynamics. The MW is opening the filter a little for a brighter, more confident tone while aftertouch is adding some vibrato.
~
15. Perked Up - This patch is a velocity sensitive synth organ sound. There's a soft click in the attack and 3 saw waves in 3 different octaves. The MW is opening the filter while aftertouch is adding some square shaped vibrato.
~
16. Bass Wedge - This patch is more of a bass sound effect than a proper bass sound. It has a nasty tone and fades in just fast enough to be used as an accent in between the other notes. The MW is opening the filter while aftertouch is adding some random LFO pitch action.
